Smoke Evacuation Legislation (HB4365)

Posted 11 months ago

Greetings Colleagues,

Concerning HB4365, no good news, but still a glimmer of hope.  Our bill was substituted for a House Bill which was agreed upon by all stakeholders, and it unanimously passed the House Public Health Committee.  Unfortunately, we ran out of time to get the bill passed out of the House of Representatives.  The hope is that the proposed rules of our bill that was submitted to the Texas Health & Human Service Commission will be accepted; however, this process is pending until the close of the current legislative session, May 29th.  We will still have to go back to the next legislative session to ensure our Surgical Smoke Evacuation bill becomes law.

Sincere thanks to all of you who have testified, written letters and comments, and visited our legislators! We all have worked diligently to get this our bill pass and we are not done yet!

Kindest regards,
